This is a great hymnal. I've read it a lot since I purchased a used copy through Amazon. Large portions of it are organized according to the Church Calendar, with specific hymns arranged for Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, Ascension, Pentecost, and Trinity Sunday, along with selections for saints' days and other festivals of the Church, and with a large number of general hymns, selections for morning and evening, seasons of the year, etc. In the back is a table with further suggestions on when to use which hymns. The hymns themselves including many of the classics of Christian hymnody, with translations of many ancient hymns by outstanding translators, with many of them serving a fine poetry read without music. I cannot recommend this hymnal enough. If I could have only one hymnal, this would be it.

The English Hymnal which I purchased was well kept by the original owner. However the prints are tiny and I am not comfortable when playing the organ/piano.
