Amazing Untold History

This book covers the history of film that many forget. It discusses the importance and influence that magicians had on film. Film began in their illusions as pictures were projected onto smoke etc.

You will definitely enjoy reading this book if you have interest in film history. I happen to have interest in film and magic. This book kept me pretty well interested throughout.

About the Author
Robert Sherlaw Johnson was born in Sunderland in 1932 and died in November 2000. He was educated at the University of Durham and the Royal Academy of Music, later studying piano in Paris with Jacques Fevrier and composition with Nadia Boulanger, as well as attending some of Messiaen's classes at the Conservatoire. After that, he taught in schools, played the piano for a touring ballet company and a group of Spanish dancers, and established a considerable reputation as a concert pianist, specialising in performances of piano music by major 20th-century composers.

In an effort to evaluate the nation's strengths and weaknesses across the P-16 education pipeline, it draws upon a wide range of educational data sources and indicators. About the Author

Jaekyung Lee is Dean of the Graduate School of Education at the University at Buffalo. He has a Ph.D. in education from the University of Chicago. He is a fellow of American Educational Research Association, a fellow of the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University, and he is the recipient of the 2007 AERA Early Career Award. His research focuses on educational policy evaluation and international comparative education.

About the Author
John Rutter was born in London in 1945 and studied music at Clare College, Cambridge. His compositions embrace choral, orchestral, and instrumental music, and he has edited or co-edited various choral anthologies, including four Carols for Choirs volumes with Sir David Willcocks and the Oxford Choral Classics series. From 1975 to 1979 he was Director of Music at Clare College, and in 1981 he formed his own choir, the Cambridge Singers. He now divides his time between composition and conducting and is sought after as a guest conductor for the world's leading choirs and orchestras. Born in 1919, David Willcocks began his musical career as a chorister at Westminster Abbey, later winning scholarships to Clifton College and King's College, Cambridge. Following war service, he was elected Fellow of King's College, and later became Organist of Salisbury and Worcester Cathedrals, conducting the Three Choirs Festival whilst at Worcester. Willcocks returned to King's College, Cambridge as Director of Music from 1957-1974, with the first collection of his arrangements in the Carols for Choirs series publishing in 1961. He was Director of Music at the Royal College of Music from 1974-1984, and was knighted in the Queen's Silver Jubilee Honours List in 1977. Willcocks also conducted The Bach Choir for 38 years, retiring in 1998. Sir David died in September 2015.

Rutter's Carols

John Rutter is one of the most gifted church composers working today. This book is part of a series of Christmas Carol books he has edited,and this one contains mostly his arrangements of somewhat lesser known carols. It's easy to read, clearly printed. It's a great choice for a group looking for good music that hasn't been played to death around the world.
